The long stretch of June was named after Juno. Most ladies like to be hitched in June so Juno can secure their marriage.I think Hera was a significant goddess, since marriage is a major thing to look out for. Be that as it may, she wasnt an awesome individual. She was consistently furious with Zeus, and despite the fact that she had a valid justification to be, she could have taken her displeasure out on just him, and not his escorts or their youngsters. Im truly doodads with regards to what number of divine beings and goddesses looked disfigured, in light of the fact that there was huge amounts of interbreeding. I wager if somebody somehow managed to make something like a family tree each god and goddess would be connected in some way or another. I likewise wonder if Hera was abhorred by a great deal of the divine beings and goddesses, since I however she was a mean individual. I surmise back in Greece in the event that you a significant god or goddess you were as yet venerated.

How Long Are SAT Subject Tests

First things first: the SAT Subject Tests are each an hour long. So if you were worried that the subject tests were as long as the general SAT, breathe easy! Theyre quite a bit shorter. That means that you can take up to three of them on any given day that theyre offered. Number of Questions on an SAT Subject Test The physical length of the tests will vary, even though the timing doesnt. There are 20 SAT Subject Tests in five different areas: English, history, languages, mathematics and science. Its a good idea to know approximately how many minutes per question you have going in to test day, as this can range widely, from Mathematics with 50 questions to World History with almost twice that. As of March 2016, the number of questions per test was: English: approximately 60 (Multiple Choice) US History: 90 (Multiple Choice) World History: 95 (Multiple Choice) Spanish: 85 (Multiple Choice) Spanish with Listening: approximately 85 (Multiple Choice) French: 85 (Multiple Choice) French with Listening: approximately 85 (Multiple Choice) Chinese with Listening: 70-75 (Multiple Choice) Italian: 80-85 (Multiple Choice) German: 85 (Multiple Choice) German with Listening: approximately 85 (Multiple Choice) Modern Hebrew: 85 (Multiple Choice) Latin: 70-75 (Multiple Choice) Japanese with Listening: 80 (Multiple Choice) Korean with Listening: 80 (Multiple Choice) Mathematics 1: 50 (Multiple Choice) Mathematics 2: 50 (Multiple Choice) Biology E/M: 80 (Multiple Choice) Chemistry: 65 (Multiple Choice) Physics: 75 (Multiple Choice) Choosing Subject Tests Its not a great idea to  choose your Subject Tests based on how many or how few questions they have! A test with fewer questions means that each wrong answer knocks more points off your score, while a test with more questions means that time becomes more of a factor. Go with your strongest subjects to show colleges where your academic strengths lie. Because they all take an hour to complete, one great thing about the SAT Subject Tests is that, for the most part, you can change the subjects you take right up until the proctor hands you the test booklets. Be careful, though! There are some exceptions to this. In the first place, not all of the subject tests are offered on every test date. In the second place, if youve signed up for a language test with listening—or youve just decided you want to do one—the test center probably wont be able to accommodate you, unless youve registered for a listening test in advance. A Note on Subject Test Scoring Even though the Subject Tests only take an hour each, theyre still scored on the 200-800 scale used for the general SAT sections—so a lot of students will be on familiar ground there.

The New World - 1669 Words

Europeans are known for trekking into western civilization or as they refer to as the â€Å"New World†, and take the land as their own. In some scenarios it is evident that the Europeans have proved to be beneficial to the inhabitants of the area, and help them economically. Venezuela, however can be regarded as the complete opposite. Spain saw Venezuela as an opportunity to make quick money due to the prominent pearl beds that lay off the coast of Venezuela and the myth of el dorado which ostensibly yields infinite riches. Nonetheless, the Spaniards took no consideration into the exploitation they caused when searching for riches and settling. This can be classified as quite the tragic story, but a select few individuals were able to muster enough courage to fight for their country. Venezuela yields a rich history in culture and the fight for independence that dates back to nearly 15,000 years ago when the first indigenous people crossed the Bering Strait from Siberia into what is formerly known as present day Venezuela. During this millennium, formerly itinerant groups developed into three main linguistic groups that had begun to proliferate quite substantially due to their extensive knowledge of agriculture: Arawak, Carib, and Chibcha. The Carib tribe resided predominantly in the central and eastern coast of Venezuela living off fishing and constant movement of agriculture in order to maintain the integrity of the land whilst not depriving it of its natural resources. What is Achieved Status free essay sample

Status is a Sociology term very often used to refer one’s position within the society as a child, youth or parent. A person may have a multiple status in the society. A man could be a son, father, husband, brother etc. As Linton says, â€Å"A status is closely related beliefs about expectation of those having status†. A simple way of identifying one’s status in the society is to see his position that he holds after a certain merit or biological. The society has two types of status; Achieved and Ascribed. We would understand both the status below: What is Achieved status? Achieved status is a social position one can attain on the basis of merit in the society. This status is gained over a person effort. It is something that has been earned or chosen by the person himself. Achieved status reflects personal skills, personality and behaviour. When a person earns a status or a position by his own achievements, efforts, knowledge and skills, it is called achieved status. We will write a custom essay sample on What is Achieved Status? or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The concept was framed by anthropologist Ralph Linton. Examples of Achieved status can be understood better if you think about personalities of sportsman, actor, professor or a criminal. How is it different from Ascribed status? Ascribed status basically is the social status one is assigned at the time of birth. It is not the position one attains by his choice. In simple terms, it is the opposite of achieved status. Now, how is it different from Achieved status? This status is not earned by the person. It is neither gained by merit. Another very important fact is to understand that both Ascribed and Achieved status cannot be always right and left. A person may have a mix status too. Take the example of Hillary Clinton, who has achieved of Secretary of the state. It can be said that she would have not achieved this status, had she not come from a wealthy family. Another simple example of Ascribed status is, when a child is born in a rich family, he attains a rich socio-economic status. Further this child may attain an achieved status by his education, behaviour and skills. Social mobility Social Mobility is the movement of a person in the society. Movement could be within the family. Let’s understand this better by knowing the type of social mobility in the society. †¢Horizontal Mobility: a person who moves into a change in position in his profession and does not really attains a change in the society, it is called horizontal mobility. †¢Vertical Mobility: When there is a movement and there is a change in class, it is called vertical mobility. †¢Upward and Downward Mobility: Vertical mobility can further be upward and downward. Cultural capital Cultural capital is basically non-commercial social asset which promotes social mobility of a person beyond economic means. For Example: Dressing style of person, Style of speech or physical appearance. It is a French Sociological concept that gained immense widespread in the recent times.

The Federal Reserve System Modern Fascism and Absolute Power Essay Example

The Federal Reserve System: Modern Fascism and Absolute Power Essay The Federal Reserve System: Modern Fascism and Absolute Power Most Americans feel the United States of America is a beacon of democracy and raw capitalism, the leader of the â€Å"free† world. In theory, this is a perfectly well-reasoned assumption. The founding fathers had every intention of turning the new world into a full fledged democracy, devoid of any monarchy or source of totalitarian power. The constitution itself demands that our government be â€Å"of, for and by the people†, and be divided into complex units of checks and balances, designed to thwart any potential power struggle by one specific branch. In essence, the constitution of the United States is a perfect blueprint for democracy in its purest form, with power and control in the hands of its citizens. Unfortunately, this is not the case today. By giving up the right to print its own currency in 1913, the US Government bequeathed its powers to a select few, who have owned and operated this country ever since. They are the true masters of US domestic and foreign policy. Just like a corporation issues shares of stock to function as a productive entity, a country has to issue currency in order to fund its operations. This currency is the lifeblood of a nation, creating wealth for its citizens by fostering economic development and providing public infrastructure and services. In a true democracy, the government is owned by the citizens and operated by representatives of the population as a whole, who control and more importantly regulate the issuance of this currency. This is a critical point to remember. This can be considered a hidden tax and represents a loss of buying power for a nation’s citizens. This loss of buying power [if left unchecked] destroys private wealth and can completely wipe out a country’s middle class, creating only two groups of citizens: the poor and the ultra-wealthy. Without a functioning and thriving middle class, a country is nothing more than a failed state. Because of this, the act of creating and regulating currency must be kept in the hands of those it serves (ie. the people). Any type of transference of this â€Å"absolute power† into private hands gives that person or entity complete control over a nation’s people and government. Why? Through the power of devaluation. Devaluation is basically â€Å"instant inflation† or â€Å"hyperinflation†. Overnight, devaluation can lower the value of a nation’s currency which in turn lowers the buying power for its citizens relative to other currencies. An example of this can be recalled from the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, which started when the Thai Baht was devalued and Thailand’s stock market lost 75% of its value. Within a matter of days, the people of Thailand saw their savings destroyed. In essence, devaluation is the ultimate weapon since it can destroy an entire nation, but leave its wealth (ie. infrastructure) intact. One can quickly see why this power must never be transferred to private hands, yet this is exactly what happened to the United States in 1913. When the Federal Reserve Act was passed on December 23rd, 1913 , the power to print US currency was transferred from the public government into the hands of a private Delaware corporation , known as the Federal Reserve System. From this point forward, the United States Government was no longer issuing its own currency and instead, had to borrow money from a â€Å"private bank† and pay interest on the loan. For 94 years, the United States has been at the mercy of a single entity who with the stroke of a pen, could transfer an entire nation’s wealth and wipe out the entire middle class. Americans may vote for a political â€Å"choice† every four years, but the results for any given election are meaningless since the President of the United States has no more control over the Federal Reserve System than the average citizen. In essence, the President is a servant of the Federal Reserve System, not the people. Not a single President has ever challenged the constitutional basis for the Federal Reserve System, except for one. John F. Kennedy, being the incredible patriot and visionary that he was, knew the US Government had the constitutional right to print and issue its own currency. He saw the Federal Reserve System as a dangerously corrupt entity and set in motion a plan to usurp control of our nation’s money supply from this private bank, back into the hands of the American people. He issued Executive Order 11110 on June 4th, 1963 , which delegated the US Treasury to issue silver certificates against silver bullion. This alternative currency circumvented the Federal Reserve System since the US Government could once again carry out the printing of paper money, backed by silver held by the US Treasury. These new notes were legal tender and were in direct competition to notes issued by the Federal Reserve System. Unfortunately, President Kennedy was assassinated a few months later and the order was abandoned, thereby giving the Federal Reserve System a monopoly [once again] on the issuance of US currency where it has remained ever since. Benito Mussolini once said, â€Å"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power. † The Federal Reserve System fits this description perfectly and represents the ultimate merger of state and corporate power. The idea that Fascism is simply a totalitarian practice based on racism is a misnomer. There is a more important component to Fascism, an economic component known as â€Å"Corporatism†, which was an essential ingredient of economic totalitarianism as practiced by Mussolini and Hitler . Essentially, the racist component of traditional Fascism is irrelevant and not necessary in order for it to succeed. It is merely a propaganda tool used to create a â€Å"rally round the flag† diversion based on xenophobic principles (as illustrated by the Nazi Party), while corporate control is exerted over the government behind the scenes. In the United States these policies were not called â€Å"fascism† but â€Å"planned capitalism† , with the Federal Reserve System at the center dictating economic policies, and exerting indirect control over domestic and foreign policies through elected officials thanks to its monopoly on currency issuance. The parallels between the Federal Reserve System and the power of currency issuance, vis-a-vis Sauron and the Ring of Power are marked examples of evil and its constant pursuit of absolute power. Domestic and interstate conflict has always been an important tool for the Federal Reserve System due to its ability to drive up our nation’s debt. One doesn’t need to look any further than our current â€Å"War on Terror† and its half-trillion dollar price tag to understand this fact. History has shown that evil prevails when good men fail to act. This is evident in America today since the Federal Reserve System is rooted in corruption and has no constitutional basis, but yet has managed to survive for almost 100 years in its current form. John F. Kennedy made a noble effort but unfortunately did not live to see his Executive Order implemented. Others have tried as well, such as Ron Paul, a House Representative from the 14th District of Texas, who has tried repeatedly to introduce legislation to abolish the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal Reserve Banks, and to repeal the Federal Reserve Act altogether, while liquidating the assets of the Federal Reserve System and returning them to the US Treasury . Unfortunately, he has not been successful in his attempts, however, he is now running as a presidential candidate for 2008 . Perhaps his message will be heard by a louder audience this time. In conclusion, Fascism has undergone many incarnations and has been called many different things, by many different dictators. But at its core it is nothing more than what Mussolini said: the merger of state and corporate power. America today is at the mercy of a privately owned central bank that has absolute power over its citizens and elected officials. Much like the Fellowship of the Ring was engaged in a fierce battle over Middle Earth and the Ring of Power, we as citizens of the United States are locked in a battle over our country’s freedom from Fascist enterprise and its right to currency issuance. Just as Sauron desired to control the Ring of Power so he could dominate the people of Middle Earth, those who control the Federal Reserve System wish to control this country through the power of its currency and subsequent debt. They continue to exert control over our elected officials and have dictated virtually every major domestic and foreign policy since the beginning of the 20th century. The Fellowship was represented by a heterogeneous mixture of men, hobbits, elves, wizards, and others forces of good who swore to defend Middle Earth from Sauron, the Orcs, the Uruk-hai and other forces of evil. In the case of this country’s struggle against the domination of the Federal Reserve System, the modern day â€Å"Fellowship† is represented by grassroots movements consisting of current and ex-members of Congress, academics, entrepreneurs and average citizens, who recognize the importance of abolishing this power held by those who control the Federal Reserve System. Our nation’s survival well into the 21st century and beyond depends on it. Thanks to innovations like the Internet, the public’s ability to access information that was once kept hidden from view is now possible. This instills the hope that much like the Fellowship in LOTR was eventually able to thwart the efforts of Sauron, we as citizens of the United States can succeed in abolishing the Federal Reserve System and help restore this nation to the democratic vision of our Forefathers. ttp://www. federalreserve. gov/pubs/frseries/frseri. htm Delaware Corporation No. 0042817, https://sos-res. state. de. us/tin/GINameSearch. jsp http://www. lib. umich. edu/govdocs/jfkeo/eo/11110. htm DiLorenzo, Thomas J. 1994. Govenment Budgeting essays

Govenment Budgeting essays There are many different budgeting systems used throughout the history of the United States. The development of the different budgeting systems came out of the growing needs for efficiency, managing rapid growing budgets, public assurance of budget spending, and the need to cut programs effectively to reduce spending. In the more current budgeting, a combination of the different types are incorporated and implemented to maximize efficiency and productivity. Line item budgeting is primarily to ensure that money is spent in accordance with its allocations and that it is properly spent and accounted for. Line items in a budget represent a broad type of expenditure. Because all agencies practice similar types of budgeting, they will all use the same object code for their line item or object of expenditure. I work for a school district that uses line item budgeting. For example, if I were to purchase non-instructional supplies, I would use the object 4300 to identify the type of expenditure. This type of budgeting is easy to understand it is still used today in many areas of public finance. It also offers political leaders an easier way of reducing items budgeted rather than cutting programs entirely. Unlike other budgeting systems that focus more on results to promote planning and management, line item budgeting limits what benefits can be offered. The 1930s began a change in the way public money was budgeted. Because the federal budget was rapidly growing, there became a need for a budgeting system change as well. The performance budget developed out of this rapid growth and is generally organized around programs and activities. Performance measures are used to show how work and cost relate. Similarly to line item budgeting, expenditures are broken down into different areas. However, performance budgets break down the areas into many divisions, whereas, the line item budget has only one division. Performance budgeting helps develop ...

IPO analysis Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

IPO analysis - Case Study Example This technique, OpenIPO , was an invention aimed at making pricing and allocation of the IPO share a transparent and an easy-to-do process for the issuers and to do away with any possible conflicts of interests, as may arise, between the sponsors and issuers as had been the predominant case with the former/ traditional IPO. In addition, this company (W.R Hambrecht Company) also provides an option of the traditional technique, as may be the preference of the intended users who wish not use the new online initiatives. Other services such as the venture capital, M&A, market making, proprietary investments, financing of the private placements, and online brokerage businesses, are the traditional services that this institution still provide to ensure undoubted satisfaction levels of its clients. As if this is not enough, W.R Hambrecht Company further supports approximately 36 companies to attain their IPO via their new application (the online auction system) i.e., the Overstock.com and Go ogle.Inc, and other 15 companies to use the traditional style. Strategic considerations for entrepreneurs to evaluate while determining on whether to use Dutch auction or traditional IPO approach to taking a company public W.R Hambrecht Company recommends prior consultations and advisory services, as a method of strategic approach for entrepreneurs to effectively use while making business decisions on whether to use either the traditional IPO or the Dutch auction/OpenIPO. Such decisions have to be made under the premeditated considerations of; their institutions’ goals, pricing, shares allocations, and risks and returns that are linked to any of the options that a company would centralize on. For instance, both OpenIPO and traditional techniques present very different means of allocating their shares. A sponsor has higher priorities in making decisions that promptly determine the amount of shares that can be allocated to whomever suit their recommendations, an authority that is vulnerable to abuse, in the traditional IPO. This has the potential of impacting negatively in case a stock is mispriced. A substantial case is when a sponsor decides to allocate the available shares to individual accounts of business supervisory in other institutions of their business interest, a situation that is efficiently avoidable in the case of Dutch auction/ OpenIPO. OpenIPO does its allocation without malicious considerations such as personal interests in shares allocation. Thus, is guarantees fairness (no spinning) and only allocate shares to bid winners, i.e., those who placed their bids based on the price or higher factors. The second benefit of using the OpenIPO is that it guarantees an open platform for all irrespective of whether an investor is a larger institution or small enterprises, as had been the trend with the traditional IPO shares allocation. Characteristics of the OpenIPO that makes it to override the traditional IPO is that it allows limited incentives f or the small investor to purchase shares based on the underwriters’ quoted prices (which are lower), and quickly sell them off to gain a bigger profit margin. A second factor that OpenIPO will help to eliminate will be the possibility of investors to bid too low by ensuring that those who overbid and underbid are sold for the shares at equal prices. This second advantage would help the issuers to earn more, money they would have not realized while using the traditional I

Faults in U.S. Intelligence Operations Carried over from Persian Gulf Assignment

Faults in U.S. Intelligence Operations Carried over from Persian Gulf War I to Persian Gulf War II - Assignment Example The war was successful due to the fact that no much resource was used during the war and only estimated 300-Allied soldiers lost their lives. Twelve years down the line, the U.S. and its allies again initiated another war with Saddam Hussein in 2003 with a view to toppling his regime. The reason for Iraq’s invasion according to the then U.S. president George Walker Bush, and the then British Prime Minister Tony Blair was that their intention was to disarm Saddam of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and stop Saddam from supporting terrorist as well as liberate the people of Iraq3. The war ended after several months of fighting with the culture of Saddam Hussein in Baghdad Iraq. Despite the success in the two wars, the U.S. intelligence services have been faulted for not doing its work as expected. This was mainly manifested during the Persian Gulf War of 1991. After discovering the faults, the U.S. intelligence service took several initiatives aimed at rectifying the faults to avoid a repeat of such errors in subsequent operation. Despite these attempts, the question that one may ask is whether the US intelligence op eration made similar faults during the Persian Gulf War of 2003? The objective of this paper is to analyze whether the faults in US intelligence operations were carried over from the Persian Gulf War of 1991 to the Persian Gulf War of 2003. Intelligence department plays a major role with regard to the provision of vital information that may help country strategize in time and combat any security threat5. Provision of timely and accurate information is important because it may help a country prepare in terms of defence and put in place the necessary resource needed to prevent any security threat. This has been a major concern for the United States government since the end of the Cold War. Nevertheless, some of the intelligence services have failed the government of U.S. with regard to the provision of vital information regarding  uncertainties and early warning. This was witnessed during the Persian Gulf War of 1991 when the I MEF failed to provide a strategic warning during months Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990.

Surprise Under the Carpet at Northern Sigma Essay Example for Free

Surprise Under the Carpet at Northern Sigma Essay Based on the information generated by the interviews with the two different groups, what have you learnt about this plant? What I have learnt about this particular plant is the fact that the workers are not in harmony with each other. They also tend to assume things as per the behaviors of the other groups for instance the white male groups tend to think that or rather assume that these women and disadvantaged groups feel that not only were they left out of important task forces but were required to be ten times better than their white counterparts in order to be promoted (Robbins, et al. 2011). Midrand plant employees have no communication channels whatsoever with their senior management and this is rather obvious by the reaction seen on Peter Barnes once the results of the interview have been given. 2. What may have led to these problems? There are a number of factors that may have led to the problems currently being experienced in this plant for instance lack of motivation and training especially for women and disadvantaged groups, lack of proper communication channels and directions from the top management to the workers and vice versa as well as lack of conflict management skills (Robbins, et al. 011). It is clear that conflict exists between the workers thus resulting in poor performance. And despite the fact that majority of employers are highly educated there are no programs offered for enhancement of skills for these employees which makes them stagnant in a business world that is forever changing and in need of new and unique business skills (Robbins, et al. 2011). 3. What consequences are likely to emanate from these problems? Such problems as experienced by this plant result in a number of consequences for instance not being able to keep and maintain workers. Those already experiencing conflict within this plant are pressured into quitting as revealed from the interview results with the case of women and disadvantaged groups by the white male groups (Robbins, et al. 2011). Such companies also tend not to attract potential workers and this may be harmful for the company’s future success in as far as meeting its objectives is concerned. Organizational conflicts also result in low morale amongst the workers, reduced ollaboration, reduced productivity, passive or aggressive behavior and distrust (Robbins, et al. 2011). 4. Do you agree that Barnes should be responsible for these problems? Explain. I agree that Barnes should be responsible for these problems since he is the general manager having the responsibilities of not only hiring and recruiting of staff but also training process managers under him. A general manager is expected to encourage team members in their work as a way of getting the best output from them (Robbins, et al. 20 11). In this particular case, Barnes left the workers to do carry out the tasks without any particular supervision and expected results by the end of the day. He is not seen as having followed up any of his workers’ performance progress and that is why he is shocked at the results of the interview. An effective general manager must have leadership qualities to be able to lead and direct his workers (Robbins, et al. 2011). 5. What specific recommendations would you offer to Barnes to improve the management of diversity at the plant? As a way of improving the management of diversity at the plant, Barnes should first and foremost consider establishing a conducive working environment where all workers can work in harmony with each other without feeling discriminated or overworked (Robbins, et al. 2011). He should also create equal opportunities for both groups of workers where women and the disadvantaged groups can feel that their contributions are taken seriously in group projects. Clear communication channels should also be established in order for the workers to feel comfortable enough to open up and share their opinions, doubts or ideas regarding projects or the management of the company. This is especially so in the case of the Asian group whose members were considered difficult to understand and very secretive (Robbins, et al. 2011). In this way, Barnes will better manage this diverse workforce and experience better results the next time such an interview is conducted.

Women Athletes in Male Dominated Sports Essay -- Argumentative Persuas

Women Athletes in Male Dominated Sports Sports are one of the great American pastimes, but the reality is that sports have encouraged a very distinct separation between males and females in the American society. The attitudes acquired through sports are learned on the field and breached into the real world to create conflict between the sexes. The issue of gender inequality goes far beyond the sports world, yet male dominated organizations form and support the sexes. With this separation of sexes we see the social and cultural strain on athletes participating in opposite gender sports, because society frowns on women participating in male dominated sports. The idea of sports has always had a masculine viewpoint. It has been seen as unladylike for women to participate in certain sports, let alone those that are primarily male dominated. The American public's fascination with female athletes: tennis players, professional golfers, figure skaters, and gymnasts. These sports demonstrate the agility and elegance "natural" to women and although athleticism is clearly a major aspect of these sports, the individual stars are known, culturally at least, more for their "feminine" attributes like self-sacrifice, glamour and grace (Banet-Weiser, p 411). From the article by Banet-Weiser, we can see society and the general public recognition of female athletes has always been based on their feminine beauty and objectified status, rather than their athletic skill, which becomes a major drawback to women's sports and probably a significant reason why many women drop out of sports or have their sexual identity questioned when they try to prove their ath leticism. This issue of gender in sport occurs all the time. The masculine assumptions... ... everyone whether male or female needs to incorporate physical activity into their daily routine. Without it, we would not be able to participate in athletics and so what if a woman sweats when she is at the gym or playing a sport, it just proves that she is working hard at what she is doing. So, in a way, sport provides communication with other people and improves the physical, mental, and emotional well being of a woman. I think we just need to look past the negative aspects of sport because they can distract athletes or even cause them to stop doing what they love. Pressure from society to fit in is always a hard thing to deal with and those that overcome the remarks from audiences or critics become the better person in the long run by looking back at what they accomplished and what they have left behind for many other generations of women athletes to follow.

Save Water Speech Essay

Good morning to the excellencies, respected teachers and my dear colleagues. I would like to speech on a very important topic â€Å"save water† today at this special occasion. As well all know that how the water is important for the continuation of life on the earth. It is the most basic need of everyone (human being, animal, plant and other microorganisms). Water is the unique source of life, without water we cannot imagine the life here. Life on other planets is not possible just because of the absence of water. It is considered as the most important among other known celestial bodies. Almost three-fourth area of the earth is covered by the water and it constitutes around 60-70 % of the living world. It seems that water is endless renewable source on the earth because it is regenerated and redistributed all over the earth through evaporation and rain. It arises a question in our mind that if water is renewable source then why we should worry for water and try to conserve it. Actually, there is only 1% of the water on the earth which is usable to us. And other water bodies have unusable water to us such as 97% salty sea water, 2% water in the form of glaciers and polar ice caps. Only 1% water is here for us over which a huge population all over the world is depended for the survival. Death is more possible in the lack of water than the lack of food. It again arises a question in our mind that why we are so late in realizing the need of water saving and conservation. Since the life of each and every living things on the earth depends on water, then scenario will get worse if useful water become dirty or started reducing. A water looking fresh and drinkable from outside can be mixed with the harmful and toxic elements through various sources like industries, factories, sewer, etc and cause illness and death if ingested by animals, plants or human beings. Here are some tips which really will help us to save water: Parents should aware their children about the need of water conservation. They should avoid buying recreational water toys (which require constant stream of water) to their children. Everyone should be aware of the water shortage rules and restrictions and strictly follow in their own area. Every employee should be active for the water conservation at their own work place and encourage their employer to promote water conservation in other effective ways. There should be water conservation awareness and tips for every starter in the orientation manual and training program at schools, colleges,  work place, offices, institutions, etc. Water conservation techniques should be promoted on every news media such as TV, newspaper, radio, FM, community newsletters, bulletin boards, banners, etc. People should be more active in their area to report (to their owner, local authorities, water management of district) any problems related to water loss through broken pipes, errant sprinklers, open hydrants, abandoned free-flowing wells, etc. Water conservation awareness should be highly developed and promoted especially in the schools to aware children means future of the nation. School students should be assigned to prepare projects on water conservation or given this topic during any competition like debate, discussion, essay writing or speech recitation. It should be promoted at tourism level so that tourists and visitors can be aware of and understand the need for water conservation. As being educated citizens we should encourage our friends and neighbors to join the water conscious community. Everyone should make a task related to water saving and try to complete by the end of day strictly.

The Learning Return on Our Educational Technology Investment

Introduction When I was perusing the article choices for this week, the title, The Learning Return on Our Educational Technology Investment, really intrigued me. This title seems to encapsulate the concerns of all educational personnel-from teacher to district administrator. Though all of us may define the term â€Å"learning return† a bit differently, the questions remain. â€Å"What are we getting for our money? Is this investment really helping our students? And finally, if there will be a worthwhile return on our investment, which best practices will most efficiently produce the greatest benefits?† Although the studies that have attempted to address these concerns have produced varying results, there are several points that seem to emerge†¦show more content†¦This model of teaching espouses â€Å"teaching basic skills within the authentic contexts†¦for modeling expert thought processes, and for providing for collaboration and external supports to permit stud ents to achieve intellectual accomplishments they could not do on their own†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Means et al., 1993, p. 2) In simpler terms, a constructivist environment allows the student to be a teacher and a learner, ask as well as answer questions, and to be assessed in ways other than traditional tests. In classrooms rich in technology, students become more engaged and active learners, and there is a greater emphasis on inquiry. I contend that the teachers who practice constructivist principles will be the ones who are able to interweave technology successfully into their classrooms.
